What is a 1966 tux MK IV worth. I see one in my local paper for sale for $5000. What are features of a tux to tell if it realy is one. I'm going to take a look but it has original paint and all original parts. (so he says) and no rust. I don't need it and really don't want to buy it but I might if it looks as good in person. Anyone looking for one?

Tux features usually include chrome bumpers that are slightly curved, chrome hood and w/s hinges, column shift, 60/40 split bench up front, chrome license plate mount on the center of the tailgate, and the tux badges on the hood.

Price-wise, I'm not convinced that the Tux's are *that* much more valuable than a regular Jeep in the same condition. Probably just depends on if you can find someone specifically looking for a Tux, otherwise some of the things like the column shift and bumpers are less desireable for a working/trail Jeep.

    Take pics!

One thing I've learned with old Jeeps is never say "always", less'n you mean "they're always inconsistent"....;)

When the owner isn't looking, pop the original hub caps off and see that I get them. :D Bumpers too if you can manage it.
Is it a V6? I'm hoping my 66 Tux wll be worth that or a little more when it's restored. Again, like anything else, if somebody wants it, it's worth the price. Personally, I just think they're neat cause there aren't an awful lot of them and they are just a little different than a standard JEEP.
    Pics?

The trouble with the Tuxedo Park today is that very few have the original equipment that made them unique.

So, if this jeep does not have 100% of all the unique items on it, it is just another jeep CJ5 and is worth what a 'common' CJ5 is worth.

I guess that the only performance items that were on the TP that made them "better"?? than the ordinary CJ5 were the 10 inch brakes, variable springs, and steering box. Later ordinary CJ's had the 10 inch brakes and the V-6 had the better steering box.

One could say that the column shift (in the 4 cyl) made it better, and then again one could argue against that. Even jeep wasn't sure and they went back to the floor shift on the later model 4 cyl tuxedo parks.

All the rest was trim and chrome which is why that if the jeep does not have it all, there is no reason to pay extra for a tuxedo park.

Even if it does have 100% of the correct chrome stuff there is no reason to pay extra for it unless you are some sort of collector.

If you can get a 1962 or 1963 Tuxedo Park Mark III that would be a nice find -- I'd pay a few extra bucks for one of them in undisturbed condition.

I've never seen or even heard of a '62 or '63 Tuxedo Park Mark III CJ-6. That would be interesting to see.
