I got the sheetmetal home and now i will start cutting out the panels to bend up for my trailer.
Before i do this i need to have a question answered. I am making individual sides and bottom piece to form a tub. Well I am going to have the two sides bend in with a 90 degree lip and I am going to weld on a front flat panel. In the world of autotive sheetmetal do you stil bend a lip over and weld the panel on, or do i not bend it and weld it? The end would be smooth if i bend it over onto itself. If i didnt do the bend it will be a sheetmetal edge with the potential to cut people. So would it be better to bend the lip for a smooth edge or am i looking to much into it and just weld the piece on and sand it to have a smooth edge?

if it will be an exposed edge on the finished trailer, and you have the capacity to bend it over to give a smooth edge, you shoud do it. attention to detail in my opinion.

I am still debating on using angle for reinforcements on the corners.

Bend a lip and get a hole puncher so you can spot weld the holes and then smooth them with a flap disk.

How about if you bend the lip 90 degrees inside ? That way it wont stick out and cut someone like you are thinking ? I like the spot weld idea.. You could do that then seam seal the outside nice and smooth.. and it'll save you some welding and grinding. Also, you can just drill holes instead of buying a hole punch.
