Why do you need a T-176 if you have a T-18. Will the Ford T-18 bolt pattern fit your 72 bell housing?

I think he means a T-176 bellhousing. A bellhousing from a T-150 will work too. Nick says that a T4 or T5 bellhousing will work too if you are willing to drill some new holes.

Try Scotty's in Fontana. Somewhat closer than San Diego.

I think the 76-79 bell housings have the Ford bolt pattern. The T-176 has almost the same, you need to drill one hole. I think A.A. has a bell housing with the Ford pattern but it may require some final massaging. Also A.A. has a pilot bearing.
Remember to lengthen your xfer case shifter to exit the same transmission hump hole. If you do this, the shifter MUST be in place before you mate the xfer case to the T-18.
I have also shortened the throw of my shifter. It makes it easier to find locations.
You will really like your T-18! Good luck!

I used a t5 bellhousing on my wifes 83 -7. It was the factory bellhousing. IIRC the pilot holes were there and just needed drilled out larger and tapped. I remember being nervous doing it by hand (no drill press) but it worked like a charm. Those bellhousings are fairly common, I would not spend a lot of money(AA) without nosing around for a good used one first.
