Commando steering column

Basically just where the column bolts up, I'm not too sure if it's larger but it does go farther up into the dash.
On the key question, it sure doesn't seem like there were a lot of variations. They get pretty sloppy after 30 odd years. My 73 didn't really need the key cause I could pull it out when it was running. I did eventually replace the ignition switch , a couple of times I turned it off, pulled the key only to find out later I'd gone too far and left it in the Acc position. Wondered why my battery was going dead :?.
