does anyone have experience on max width tire to outer dimension one can put on an early CJ or Military (M38A1) without suspension mods or spacers.....

I am considering replacing NDT's with BF Goodrich LT265/75R16. My concern is the seating of these tires to fit on the orig military stock rims. currently I have 6.5 x 16" NDT mounted...any suggestions.

I also, I figure I will probably get some tire rub on the frame or leaves. I know the O.D for the BF Goodies are around 30.75" at appx 9" tread width?

any suggestions would be great !!

failed to mention, the orig military tire set up has inner-tubes. Will I need to retain them for the BF goodies or will they not be needed? thanks :?

You'll still need tubes if you are using the original tube type wheels... The beads won't seal...

Please forgive my ignorance on the subject of wheels and tires. So basically, I am good to go ?!?!? with the BF's LT265/75R16 on the orig 6.50 x 16" Military rims as long as I retain the orig tubes for the tire swap? pardon the redundancy as I just want to make sure before I drop the cash......

    thanks all.

    Have you considered a 235/85r16?

What Clint said. The 235 85 16 is a better choice for the 6.5" rim. You could look at a 255 if you wanted a little taller tire. BFG makes the AT in 235 85 and the MT in 255.
