F head hop up debate on exhaust

    ride a 12 hp ridine mower, then ride a 18 hp riding mower...which gave you the nicer lawn?

    I believe the valve overlap angle is about 110* (might be 112*, don't Have my book in front of me) 110 is just about perfect. If it were 108* it would have lots of low end power like a diesel, and if it were say 115* it would have more high end power like a Honda...

    Pretty much the only way to change valve overlap is to grind a cu$tom cam.......no?

    I'd guess, unless you could alter it slightly with rocker arm ratios...But there again, I doubt anyone makes anything but stock.

    Clifford Performance will custom grind a hotter cam for about $600. I looked into it. Not worth it for me. though its brobbly an instant 25 HP and who knows hot much ft-lbs, not to mention a whole new power curve.

    There are other cam grinders.
