I picked up some Jeep parts this last weekend, and one thing I got was a rusty '71 winshield frame. I thought I'd pull the mirror, visors, latches, upper hinges and wiper stuff. There isn't anything else worth saving is there?

    Mark,

How rusty is it? I've got a spare frame from a 60 that has some rust at the top near the channel that a top rod is inserted into. I don't have a need for it but don't want to chuck it if it's something someone can restore and still use.

I'd save the wiper linkage inside the frame. No one I've talked to make repro's... Matter of fact, I might buy them if you want to get rid of them...

Mice were living in the bottom portion of the frame, and the lower corners are rusted through. I'll have to check the top portion, but it would be different than your '60 frame as the wipers moved to the bottom. I imagine the very outermost portion of the frame would probably be the same. If there's any portion I can cut out to help you (or someone else) fix you're frame, let me know and I'll do so.

Are you saying the channel at the top of the frame is worth saving? If so, how should I remove it? I wasn't really thinking I'd sell anything yet as I want to keep the best parts from my current frame and this one to make the best one possible. That being said, I'll PM you Nick when I decide to sell one, I'm pretty sure they are both good.

I've seen the threads on the lack of wiper linkage avaialbilty and figured I should save this one. Maybe this is something someone should start making? If I end up with an extra good set I'll PM you Chris.

There's repro's of the linkage only but they don't interchange with the stock pieces so you have to buy the whole linkage assemblies to make them work. Don't remember who it was off the top of my head, have the link at work, but I'd definitely save all that stuff.
No problem on the cover, just wanted to get my word in edgewise if you decided to sell;).

The channel is held on with spot welds. A drill bit will take care of those since the frame is trashed anyway. I haven't found anyone who makes the channel for an early w/s and the later ones are a bit short so may be worth saving.
