Hey folks, I'm almost ready to drive my new (to me) 65 cj5. I have the whole disc conversion up front ready to go but no "upgraded" master cylinder. I need to get her goin really soon. Herm seems to be really busy or backed up and I have gotten no response from him. I want to buy his conversion kit so I can just bolt/weld and go. My question is, how hard is it to remove or slide the tub back so I can fab my own stuff ? What master is a good replacement? Should I just light it and roast hot dogs over her? I'm getting some money stacked into this thing and no brakes!!:( Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. I need more

    Smokie,
A '68 and up will bolt in and has dual chambers.

There's also this writeup from Speedbuggy in the tech section, dunno if you've seen it? http://earlycj5.com/tech/brakes/HermDualMC/index.php

'68 - '71 are the same frame mount design AFAIK. Is that not what you're referring to?

Im looking to unbolt the old, single master, that uses the 2 side bolts to hold it on, (no front flange) and replace it with a dual master (safety upgrade) and hopfully bolt it from the side like the old one, to the frame with little jeep mods. Is Herms kit for older than 65 jeeps? Am i missing something? need more . I think i'm in need of the stupid forum section again.

If you have not done so I suggest calling Herm. I have had great success when calling him.
On the M/C I picked one up for my 71' from my local FLAPS. I think I posted the part number on here somewhere. It is supposed to be for a disc conversion but I could not see any visible differences.
