trying to locate a source for the brace labeled "A" in this pic. it is the internal brace for the rear passenger side panel. it supports the weight of the stock spare tire carrier and was filled with a piece of OAK from the factory.

already tried Walcks, Classic Enterprises, Rigid Steel...

    any ideas?

Got any leftover hat channel material? Just cut a few reliefs in it to get the radius for the corner section. I have an ORIGINAL piece of oak from a Tux Park for that section if you need a pattern:)

no hat channel, I've got some flat 16 gauge, I only need to replace the straight portion so I'm gonna fold up a hat section and graft it on. still on the fence about the oak... seems like the reason these rust out so badly. can you copy the oak on a copier and email me a copy?

Classic has them listed with the main support on their website. Check out Wheelhouse Support Baffle 1951-1975 CJ5, M38A, Original factory surplus with corner reinforcement channel. Somewhat surface rusty, but will clean up nicely.

I bought one for a CJ2A not long ago, that might work too.

Seems to me some modern plastics would function as well as the oak for stiffness without retaining water. Even a few layers of Lexan should work.

I'm using that composite deck stuff made of sawdust and recycled plastic (bags, bottles IIRC)
    :)
