brake lines

noticed one of my brake lines as a small tare in it and to be honest they all look old. What is the general consenses on what to get the SS ones or just a set of the rubber ones? I have a 4" body lift with a 2" suspension lift. Drums all the way around. Should I order them or just hit my local NAPA auto parts store?

    Any help appriciated.

Oh yea, when I remove the existing lines, just replace with the new ones and blead at each tire? starting with the closest one first?

with 4 wheel, non-power drums, I don't think you'll be able to tell the difference between stainless and rubber, so just go down to the parts house and get yourself some rubber ones. It'll save you money and you can leave the store with them same day.

As far as bleeding the brakes, start with the furthest one first (rear passenger), then work around the vehicle from furthest to closest (front driver last).

And one last thing, you say you have a 4" body lift and 2" suspension lift!? That's scary larry. When you get enough money you need to get a 4" suspension lift and swap to a 2" body lift. 6" of lift on a CJ-5 is a lot anyway, and you aren't supposed to go over 3" on body lifts, regular manufacturers don't even sell them. Also, the closer the tub is to the frame the better. You are probably fine with 4" suspension and 0-1" body lift. Others will agree with this.

thanks for the info, not sure my 35's would fit lowering anything. Honestly, it doesn't handle badly, but I'll note your caution, I'm new to jeeping only got it last year late.

Tall body lifts are hard on the tub and mounting hardware when the frame flexes. That's why suspension lifts are preferred over body lifts.

I agree on the rubber brake hoses. With non-power brakes you probably wouldn't benefit from the improved pedal feel of the braided stainless.

    Also, as a note.
If you decide to get the rubber lines.

Don't let your flaps tell you they're special order or not available. I can't remember which one, but FLAPS#1 told me that. I went down the road to FLAPS#2 and they had the rubber lines the next day.
