Looks like I have pieces of tires cut and put in as body bushings. This cant be right. It's pretty well rusted mostly, without replacing the whole tub is it possible to weld some sheets of metal up and order a bushing set?

A-yup. The factory used at least two thicknesses of cut-up tire as body mounts. They have a part number and everything.

Well seems a little loose, like when I hit a bump the body seems to come up and slam back into the frame. Or could this be a really old and worn out suspension?

if you want a mild body lift, when you replace the tire parts, use NHL hockey pucks. It gives you about a 1" lift over stock. They work/last better if you sleeve them with a bushing from a hardware store.

If your tub is separating from the frame then you need to retorque all the body mounting bolts.

Hmm I'll have to look for those. They obviously arent like what I'm used to in the way that they go through the mount itself.
