I have 24.5" to work with. This is measured from the header to the end of the rocker. I was looking at the purple hornies however i believe they will be too long. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated?:)

    thanks in advance.

Any straight through muffler is going to be very, very loud, especially with headers. Most folks choose to go with a shorty "turbo" style muffler to keep the noise at acceptable levels and yet still give a nice throaty rumble to the ol' Dauntless.

Can you provide any links to these mufflers. I am not worried bout loudness. I also prefer it to have the 3 hole flang on the front of it. This way i wont have to cut it and find someone to weld a flange on them.

    thank you.

I went with turbo tubes, look like glass packs but not as loud. They sound really good but not "headake" good.R)

I understand it can be loud. Especially coming out right under your seat. The reason im not worried bout it is b/c I do not drive it all that much and just want to keep my options open for a muffler. Hoping to get one that is similar to a glass pack (small) and that will fit in there between the wheels.

I used Magnaflows turbos, but they are pretty loud. Shiny though! :D

Thrush Turbos. About $20 each at Pep Boys, etc.. About 17" long IIRC, with offset inlet and center output, gives a good fit and leaves enough room for turnouts.

Use Header Buddys instead of collector with gaskets... holds up much better for wheelin.
    See this link:

I ran this set up for years on my old CJ.

If you want it to sound quiet, use WK17823 Walker muffler. $22.91 from summit. It was originally designed for the plymouth reliant. I use two, one on each side then hook them up to the stacks. Sounds nice to me.

i cut down a 25" glasspack and welded on the flange and a turn out. the biggest noise (and heat) reduction i made was adding a heat sheild by cutting a 4" exhaust pipe in half and clamping it on top of the glasspacks.
