Exactly what the title states. Do I just tighten them down till I can get the cotter pin through or are they supposed to be snugged down tight????

    Quick help would be great.

I always make them as tight as I can go until I can get the cotter pin through it.

I read in my Haynes manual 55. I went 45 and am happy with it.

    On to the next project.

My 80 Jeep Services Specs manual says 40 ft. lbs. minimum plus whatever it takes to line up the cotter pin.

A little off topic, but is there a bushing that goes in there or is it metal on metal?

No bushing, just the rubber dust boot to keep debris out and grease in.
