spin on oil filter conversion fir 59 cj5

Anyone know of a reasonable kit to convert my canister filter to a spin on?

 

I dont know of any kits but I did convert mine to a spin on, I used the Napa #4755 remote mount spin on filter base and put it on the fender where the canister was.

When converting to a spin on filter dont forget that the filter system on these engines is a Bypass System, there is a .065 diameter orfice drilled into the centerbolt of the canister that regulates the volume of flow. this restriction should be placed back in the system between the engine block and inlet to the filter.

On mine I altered an additional fitting ( plugged then drilled a .065 hole ) to put between the engine block and the hose going to the filter. In this way Bypass function is maintained and the possibility of starving a bearing for oil in some other part of the engine by diverting allot of oil through a large hose and unrestricted filter is eliminated.
