any ideas??

so im thinking about goin down to check this one out at some point this week. the title says its a cj2a, but one look at the pics obviously tells me otherwise. i dont know my cj5's that well. can anyone help me determine what year this is??

My guess - it's a CJ-2A chassis with a CJ-5 body. This is the reverse http://www.film.queensu.ca/cJ3B/Tech/FrameCJ5.html but it suggests it's fairly do-able. Notice the body hangs over the rear spring hangers some.

 

well i got a call back from him. he knows its not a -2a, but apparently theres a plate on the firewall that starts with "2a" so thats what he went with.

the tranny likes to kick out 3rd gear, the transfer case is stuck in 4-high, the clutch is gone (im thinking its a linkage problem) and the brakes dont work.

now for the best part: he bolted a few 2x4s up under the rear of it between the frame rails in place of 'some hunka metal that dropped out a few years back'

Probably worth the money IMO. Even if you parted it out I see lots of good things:
seats
engine (runs good)
wheels/tires
roll bar
windshield
tub
axels

this list alone could make you a few bux...
