Just wondering how many miles you guys get out of a stock clutch with a dauntless 225.
My current build i have going, the hole body is off and theres only 18k on the motor and clutch, (which is by no means alot of miles). Wondering if since i have everything apart would it be worth putting a new clutch in now, (even though it seems mint still).

Also seeing as these have such low gears, i dont see people really dragging the clutch because first is so low anyway. For like 6 years this jeep was used as a trail rider being only driven in 4 wheel drive low. which gives me the idea that dragging the clutch wasnt much of a issue.

    Any imput would be nice.

Also for the mods, sorry for so many questions over the past few weeks im just pumped about this build and happy theres a forum with so many good people with imput.

Clutch depends alot about location, driving style. If you have alot of hills then you will cause more wear by starting from an uphill angle, or if you ride the clutch more. I lived in Florida and clutches would last me a LONG time. Then again i wouldnt rev the motor real high and dump the clutch and so on.

Clutch parts are routinely replaced becasue there's a lot of labor involved in reaching them. It's a judgement call.

IMO you should always replace the throwout bearing, unless it's brand new. I'd also replace the disk but not the cover in this case, but the expense is not a big issue to me. 18K is not a lot of miles for a clutch disk, and even fewer for a cover - with proper driving habits both should go well over 100K.

I'd guesstimate I'm over 70,000 miles on my V6 clutch assembly. It's the same clutch I installed back in 1983 when I did the V6 conversion.

Mine made it over 150K, but it was on its last leg then, I nursed it for about another year till it totally gave out.

another quick question, has anyone made a better linkage system to make it easier to push the clutch? I was thinking of adding some length to the second pivot point to get more leverage? Anyone know if this would actually help or has anyone tried this?

I'd suggest you search or post up a new thread with an appropriate title ie "V6 clutch too hard?"

The length of the clutch arms is deigned to give you maximum leverage and full travel at both ends. Certainly the 2nd pivot should be shorter to make more leverage, not longer. If you change the lengths, you either won't be able to fully disengage the clutch (possibly), or you'll get less leverage, not more.

Maybe you need a diaphragm clutch - they are supposed to be easier to compress. Search first, then ask on the forum - I don't know enough about the V6 clutches to say for certain.

    hth!
