Ok just fired up my:v6: for the first time after rebuild. Started right up and blew the oil filter I mean blew out the seams. put on a new filter, started the motor and after about 5 seconds I could see the oil filter expanding ready to blow so I shut it off. Any ideas it has the melling hi volume pump.
    Thanks Steve

Bypass valve is not working right !
What spring did you put in. Did you also put in the wrong springs? They come with longer ones that also go into the later 231 housing. These could all cover the problem you have.

The motor sounds great, I was lucky it started right up and all I had to do was a slight timing adjustment.
