    Hey guys,

I just spent over $1k to get my crappy T-86 rebuilt by Herm (who did a great job) and get it put in my 66' by a tranny shop. I just found a guy who has a Muncie 4 spd with advanced adapter hooked up to a Dana 20. What will I have to modify to put this on my CJ5? I have a Small block.

having a similar thing done to mine right now, so far, I have had to move the cross-member back, had some custom mount work for the adapter mount to the cross-member, Have to either switch to a smaller yolk or cut a notch in the trans as the front yolk hits the transmission... so it won't turn. Have to find a way to move all of the linkages back a few inches to...So, not quite a direct bolt in replacement. Kinda finding things out as I go. I am also having a trans shop install mine, but at least they are keeping me informed and still seem to be doing a decent job. Was expecting to get mine back today..but now wont be done until sometime next week Good luck!

If this is a side shift Muncie car trans, there is no real improvement. The trans will be a little stronger but will have really crappy gear ratios for a jeep that is used in the woods. If its a muncie truck trans like an sm420 or sm465, not only are they bullet proof but they have a granny low 1st gear which is a huge improvement in the woods for a jeep.
