Glad to be back to my '67 CJ-5 project after a two year delay (ARRRGGGGHHHH!!!).

Working on steering rebuild to reduce steering play, after having decided to "keep it stock" like everything else.

Question for knowledgable Ross box rebuilders: The pins on sector shaft are definetly worn, easily visible flat spots on two sides of both pins. I cannot, however, determine if or where the cam gear is worn. There is no visible sign of wear on the cam (worm) gear that I can see, nor can I feel any grooves or rough spots, etc, on the face of the cam.

Do the sector shaft pins wear first? Is it necesarry to also replace the cam & tube when replacing the sector shaft?

Like anyone, I would like to save the money for a new tube & cam, if it isn't needed, but wouldn't begrudge the expense if it is wise or needful to replace both together.

    Thanks for advice :)
