I'm putting power steering on my 1975 CJ5 with a 285, The steering came out of a 92 or 93
YJ with a 4bagger. Believe it or not the power steering bracket fits. THe problem in this was a surpentine belt set up (one belt). I have the pulley (v belt) I need. Has anyone found a remote resivor pump with the right size shaft?
    Thanks

Are you trying to say that the donor has a serpintine belt pulley on the pump. IIRC the pulleys can be swapped so you can have a V-belt pulley on this power steering pump. Perhaps what is needed is the correct pulley for the shaft you have? A good wrecking yard should be able to help you here. I can not guess why a remote reservoir is needed, could you clear this up for us, please? Matt W.

You might try a little DIY garage machine work... we improvised and utilized my Drill press to machine and take care of a different P/S belt sheave for an original power-steering pump on an older CJ P/S for use on a 78 CJ-5 w/304. Maybe, give this a try? You could rework your present surpentine sheave to work with existing shaft..... we have gotten it to function fine in the past... drilled out the larger sheave for the surpentine belt and milled a keyway in same... just remember to think out of the box and be innovative! Different scenario: Had the shaft hole been too large... we would have fabricated a bushing out of Alumn. stock.... cut out to accomplish the same end result and after utilizing hole saw w/ drill and/or drill press (use inner non-ferrus metal hole cut for new bushing ;)) to cut your outline of bushing key slot, we held w/ vice and cut same notch with saber saw slowly... then dressed all up with file... yep, alotta dress work w/ bastard file... then fine! A keyway does have to be milled in the new bushing... AGAIN, be innovative... also drill/mill the appropriate for the shaft opening in your new bushing prior to cutting the above..... a key slot is taken care of as before, etc. A lot of different ways to skin a.... well don't want to upset any animal lovers.... anyway, be innovative and keep your beast on the trails! Enjoy one on the Gunner....

    Good luck! Gunner :flag:

Yeah.... great idea, A different pump with the right pully sounds extremely innovative and well GREATl.... but I thought that was the issue there Sport? Ya know, being innovative to get around not being able to find the correct, ideal part or pieces? Plus spending the funds for the correct pump and/or correct sheave? Either or would be ideal, even fantastic.... But hell.... I have never been fortunate enough to live in an ideal world! Not too many of us have...... wouldn't u agree?

Any local machine shop would assist with this task.... if locating the applicable part is not an option. Give it a try, you may be surprised.

Or, just find a different pump with the right pulley.

I have a pulley off a Cj with the v-belt, But the shaft on the pump (remote resivor serpintine belt ) that I have is really short & to skinny. I'm gonna go buy the parts store @ lunch and see if a reg pump (without the remote res) will bolt up to the bracket that I have.

94SPORT, Good plan! If no go, try Gunners solutions. Let us know what you find out.

Gunner, As you are probably aware, Skinning a Cat refers to operation a Catterpiller tracklaying tractor. Yes I know, the animal lovers may not know this and assume it means a grown kitten. Sad world we live in when we have to be careful so as to not offend the uninformed. So let me say it. There are many ways to skin a Cat. Matt W. Ex logger.
