The question I have is how to tell the gear ratio without pulling the differential cover and counting teeth. I know there was a way of marking the driveshaft and the axle (with the tires off) and counting revolutions until both marks line up but I have forgotten how. Anybody know how to do this? It's hell to get old and forgetful............ Thanks in advance.

Mark driveline and tire with chalk or tape.
Turn tire one revolution and count how many times driveline turns.

    IE> 4 to 1. Or 4.10's.

Thanks guys, that is what I was trying to remember......... I knew we used to do it somehow, A LONG, LONG, TIME AGO!!

Video helps a lot but it must have been longer than I thought since I have seen "Trucks", last time I watched it was Stacy and some good looking woman (can't remember her name though). Where did they go?
