I made up a prototype/temp mount for my siren, which worked well till I dropped it. I sprayed a bit of silicone into the business area and it worked fine again. Question is: Do the old sirens have an oil thingy? I have no idea where it came from, other than a box of my dad's stuff, there's no stampings on it that I can see whthout cleaning it all up. It's not a big deal, yes I did a search, just wondering if any of the Mil/fire guys have any tips.

Initial testing has proved very successful! I completely torquedoff my neighbor when I pulled up to his garage and fired the siren. It's rather in the cab but apparently pretty loud from the outside
I still don't know how to maintain it but it sure seems to be working good for the time being. Doesn't everybody with an old mil jeep have a siren?
I'm thinking a wolf whistle is next, though I'll have to buy one of those

    I'd be careful with that.
I believe in CA they can impound/confiscate your vehicle for the siren; and that's just for it being attached to the vehicle, not having used it. They don't have a sense of humor any more...
it would be fun to have though....

I appreciate the citation. (I remember it from when I was a kid)
On a tangent, If I could trouble you, do you have the citation handy regarding the irequirement that towing anything in CA over 1500# requires tow-vehicle-operated brakes on the towed-vehicle?

regarding the siren, use it sparingly and only off road and amongst folks you know

disclaimer: I am not a law enforcement officer. YMMV.

Thank you for the towing citation. I believe there are a lot of flat-towers in this state and therein lies a real heads-up.
I always appreciate someone looking out for my well-being. So, thanks. Sidehilling my tractor on these Sierra hills makes me very thankful for kind thoughts in any form.
I can assure you that if I get stopped, the siren, and the flat-towing for that matter, WILL be funny to the arresting officer, if you get my drift.
... I started this thread looking for info on maintaining my siren
    Cheers

as far as the maintance goes i think they are pretty well maintance free, just need to use it once and awhile to keep things freed up,didnt read the brake law thingie, but from what i gather you need brakes to flat tow, if so what a load of B.S. how do they expect one to do that:beer:
