Hello, this is my first post to the forum. I hope someone can help me out. I just aquired a 55 from my grandfathers passing. He bought it new so it has been in the family for years. It is in very good shape bodywise exept the floor board which needs replacing. It only has 2,225 miles on it with the original motor. It was bought and taken to the deer camp and was used about one month of every year over a 53 year timespan. My question is does anyone have a picture of the original layout of the dash? I want to make it oiginal with all the knobs in the correct place. It lools like there are several round holes that have nothing it them and are out of place. Also I have a original heater box up under the passenger side of the dash mounted to the firewall. I have no defrost ducts but there are slots in the metal dash. I want to get it working again to original condition but I ave yet tofind any parts or pictures of it anywhere. It is a metal box and when you open the flap on the frint of it you can see a fan propeller in there. It has 2 wires that come out of the top of it but they are cut. Where are they suppose to go? I would appreciate answers or pics of the dash panel if you could help.

    Thanks

That Dash layout pic is exactly what I need. Thanks alot. That heater is different looking but it looks nice. I need to try to download some pictures. My heater box is a square and metal. It has a lift up slot to let the heat out on the front and it looks about like the old square lunch boxes we use to take to school. It is screwed into the firewall but can be seen when you open the glove box. That is about it. It looks nothing like that you have posted. If that is what the original looks like then where can I find one like that?

Aftermarket heaters were common in that era. Pretty sure the factory heater was located under the hood, with only air ducting under the dash - the "heater delete" plate is on the driver's side, and very obvious. Best to post a picture if you can.

There was no factory heater in '55-'56. There were knockouts on the passenger side firewall for a Harrison heater but strictly a dealer installed piece and not all put in Harrisons, or the model of Harrison that fit the knockouts. The heater delete plate Tim mentions doesn't show up until the ''57 model year. Firewall diagrams are available in the tech section.
