1969 CJ5 V6 Clutch question

    I am going to replace the clutch, pressure plate (diapharm type) throwout bearing and also the clutch fork. The parts break down show that there is a spring that attaches to the clutch fork, but the photo is for a finger type pressure plate. When I took the bellhousing off there was no spring inside and there does not appear to be a place for a spring on the clutch fork or pressure plate. There is however a external spring up near the pedal linkage. Does anyone have any ideas. Any help would be great. I don't want to get everything together and find out I am missing a part.

    mine only had a spring on the outside.

    Everything looks ok then, did you have the flywheel turned? I heard its very heavy.

    I had mine turned. If your gonna go thru all the work of clutch replacement, turning the fly wheel should be a no brainer. Yea, it's like 50 or 60 pounds.

    Ok, the parts are on the way. I guess I should also order a pilot bushing also. Any other items that should be replaced? Should I use lock tight on the bolts? Any tips or tricks on getting the heavy fly wheel out?

    When you remove all the flywheel bolts it will still be snug on the end of the crank-shaft. Insert a bolt about 4-5- or six inches long in the top hole. wiggle flywheel (may need couple pry tools) and let it come off. Saves fingers and keeps from damaging ring-gear. HTH.
