I have not yet found a website that had any color chips for 55 that were complete, There seems to be a big gap around the mid 50s From what I have found out so far " Steel Glow Gray " made its first appearance in 55. I found some original paint on mine behind the Harrison Heater and mine was originally " Beige Poly " ( kind of looks like a light silvery gray )My Windshield Frame and Hinges were Black, I think the Wheels were Black also but I cant tell for sure If the Off White/Cream color on the outside of the wheels is original or if someone did it later and just sprayed the outside. The inside of the wheels are a faded Black
I am not 100% sure but I think there was a Green that was called " Sea Foam "about that time. I think its similar to the jeep at the top of this page.
Maybe everyone with a 55 that knows what the original color of their rig is/was can post it and we can get an idea of what was available.

Caught a glimpse of an early model CJ5 at a service station today, Hung a hasty U-Turn and went back to chat. It was a 1955 year model that had been in his family for 40+ years and the family knew the original PO.

It was badly faded but original paint, Yellow ( not to bright kind of like equipment yellow ) with Black Windshield and White 15" Wheels.

I questioned if the Yellow was original and he claims to know for sure its not repainted, I looked everywhere I could think of, Even with a pocket mirror under the dash. The only parts not yellow were the Windshield, Frame and Engine/Drivetrain.
    No rust anywhere, lucky dog!

On my '56, I found really good samples of the original paint on the cowling, under the ends of the dash where it bolts to the cowling.

:flag:Mine is still original paint. The outside of the wheels are the same color as the body, the inside are black. I hope to get some new photos with my NEW digital camera! :)

I would like to see them, My wheels are white ( more of a cream color under the bright white actually ) on the outside & black on the inside. I thought some PO sprayed them but if yours are stock that way looks like mine may have been.

Rumor has it that wheels, color-matched to the body, were an option, else they were white"ish". I am sure Howard can show you some "part number" for that.
