Do you have both nuts, and the 2 keyed washers in each side? Have seen them put together with only 1 nut. Been a year, may as well repack bearings.

are you torquing your lock nuts? I never have issues with my wheel bearings coming loose. It should go smaller keyed inner washer, adjustment nut, larger keyed outer washer, and then lock nut. Many people bend the larger outer washer over the lock nut as a second locking method. I personally don't. With the amount of mud and water we have here it is common to pull the front wheel bearings apart and clean them multiple times a year.

Huh. I thought all of these had the bendy washer. I don't remember repacking without bending over the washer.

    tim,

don't your bearings have an inner keyed washer? not a lock washer, just one that is keyed?
mine also have the outer bendable lockwasher. to the best of my knowledge, the inner washer isn't meant to be a lockwasher, just a spacer to be sandwiched between the bearing and the inner nut.

I agree with the above sequence of washers and nuts.

Typically, when putting it all together...
I would tighten the first nut to 50 ft/lbs, then back it off a full turn to be sure it was seated correctly. Then tighten it again to 50 ft/lbs, and back it of 1/6 turn (one flat of the nut).
Install the 2nd washer and the lock nut, tighten this one to 50 ft/lbs.
Then bend the washer over one flat.

    HTH...
