The PO of my '74 232 engine converted the choke to manual and drilled the dash. grrr. for some reason i prefer things to work as designed. the original choke stove was still attached. I bought a reman carter and while swapping I snapped the choke stove. at the time I didnt realize what a pain it would be to get an original one. I tore out the manual choke and put the new carter on with no choke stove connected. yes it did not work right(im still a newbie), and as a side note the float on the reman carter was stuck out of the box. so here I am. I put the old carb on, with no choke stove, and no manual choke, it didnt even have the choke coil. and yes it started great but kept flooding. my uncle rebuild the reman carter. so its ready to go back on....my FLAPS has choke stove kits...and now my questions...

I am going to reinstall the reman carter

Should I go original and install the choke stove kit/choke coil or should I put the manual choke back on?

KISS indeed, but I expect the replacement choke stove will work fine, if installed correctly. You saw the previous thread where I pointed to the Dorman/HELP website with the kits? IMO manual chokes are a pain, and I'd prefer an automatic choke (ideally, I'd prefer no carburetor, but that's a different topic).
