While working on another project (installing a Delco 10SI alternator into a tractor) I realized the wiring on the back of my alternator in my 2A is different. Both are Delco 10SI units, three wire. In my flattie the #2 wire goes to the ignition switch. On my tractor, the #2 wire goes to the Batt post on the back of the alt.

Does it really matter? I've run my flattie like this for 4 years with no charging problems.

Doesn't really matter until the diode trio goes south. Wired to the ignition switch is better IMHO because you aren't exciting the field unless the ignition is "on." With that said, the drain involved with doing it the other way is negligible, so it's OK too. YMMV. ;)
