Yes I've searched, nothing seems to answer questions. Picked up a trans/tcase. Supposed to be a t15-dana20. But manufacture date stamped on trans is 11-76. Going by casting numbers at jeeptech.com it is a t15. But they didn't make 15's in 1976, only t150. Trans ive got is stamped 13-07-065-901, shift cover is stamped 13-07-097-901. Also flat boss on top of trans has the date. Guy I got it from thought it was out of a 76 truck of somekind,waggy/cherkee. Going by the shifter on the t/case it looks like it. Has the single shifter, ball and socket style that sticks farther forward than a cj. Any insight? Just going to be a temp while I rebuild orig. It's my daily driver so can't be without it for long. Thanks for any replies.

I know they supposidly stopped production of the t15 in 75, but could they have made some 1n 76 for warranty work? has a flange not a yoke for the rear output on t/case, but yoke for the front. Also below # on side it has raised letters W G DIV 2, guessing Warner Gear Division

According to Jeeptech thats a t15, the 1307 on the top cover is the number they say to look for.

The T-15 was the base transmission in Wagons and J-Trucks through 1979. My truck is a '77, and has a T-15. Only the CJ models abandoned the T-15 in 1976.

    Everything you've posted is consistent with a T-15 from a 1976 J-Truck or Wagon with a 258.

    13-07 means T-15.
W G DIV. is Warner Gear division of Borg-Warner.

Short input shaft was used with the 258. That shifter design was only used in the FSJs in 1976.

Tim, you said the input shaft was short on the 6cyl T15. Wanted to measure the one I got to see if it will work on my v8. Ok found the lengths. 10.5 and 11.5. I take it the v6 and v8 use the 11.5" and I6 uses the10.5". Thanks again.

The T-15 was never used with the V6. It was the base transmission with the Buick 350 V8 in FSJs from 69-71, and with the AMC engines in the FSJ from mid '70 through 79. It was also used in the 72-75 CJ and the 72-73 Commando with the 304.

AFAIK the 258 FSJ T-15 is the same as the T-15 used in the CJ. It uses the same bell and no plate between the bell and the transmission, so the stickout should be the same.

V8 FSJ applications will be different; really long.

I don't have any specific numbers for you, but the lengths you mention in your post cannot all be correct.

JMO - if it were mine, I'd rebuild this one and run it. The worst you could encounter is to have to switch input shafts, and that would be trivial compared to pulling the engine or trans/TC to swap in this unit.
