    Howdy all,

Just got my first Jeep and I need help. I fell into this 66 CJ5 V6 225 by accident and it needs wiring help. The previous owner connected the battery backwards and burned up half the wiring. I have rewired all of the essentials but have a few questions and am in desperate need of a better wiring diagram than what I found on the website here. The wire coming from the Distributor to the coil is burned off, I wired it up where i think it is supposed to be but I need confirmation. Also I need to know if it matters what side the wire from the switch and coil go to on the ballast resistor. As far as I know all i need to do to get her running is getting the distributor wired right, fix the rest of the wiring to get it started and new points, condenser, and rotor button.

Thanks for all the help I know im going to need

Could I ask, what's wrong with the diagrams that we have here so I can try to do something about it?

Oh dont take me wrong im not saying there is anything wrong, the only one i found was the one listed as the 225 V6 diagram and i was just looking for one a little more specific. I used the one i got here alot.

what i really need to know tho is if you can tell if i put the burned up wire back on the right terminal, i hope you can see it, its hard to see in the picture, its the wire that runs to the coil.

Black wire from dist to - (neg) term on coil. Ballast resister doesn't care which term as it just a coil of wire.

As Walt mentioned, the distributor wire goes to the (-) terminal on the coil. Power (12v) comes from the ignition switch through the ballast resistor to the (+) terminal on the coil.

Just thinking out loud here, but if the PO truly put the battery in backwards, there's a pretty good chance the rectifier in the alternator is damaged. I'd check that out as soon as you get it to fire over. ;)

Heck I can put that in the diagram, why didn't you just say so. It's the (-) side of the coil that goes to the distributor. :)

Im sorry I should have been more specific, the wire that runs from the negative side of the coil to the distrubutor was completely burned off, i need to know where exactly it attaches inside the distributor. I think i have it in the right place, but Im just not sure.

It attaches to the points, along with the wire from the condenser.
