Jeep Radio?

    My Dad has had this 1970 CJ5 since the early 70's. It came with an Am radio in it. Was this a Dealer installed option? or was it factory?

    We've discussed factory radios several times before - search.

    No, it's a Jeep radio, but not made for the CJ-5. The CJ-5/6 factory AM radio mounted below the dash.

    Didn't they start cutting speaker grills in the dash when they went from dealer option to factory radios?

    Maybe after 1976, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't in that location.

    My Jeep had a radio just like his, but to the right of the and more centered in the dash. I used to think it was factory, untill I removed the speaker that was up under the dash above the glove box. the speaker was kinda cluged in...

    Mine is also more centered on the dash, and has the 8-track option on it. Doesn't say "Jeep" on it (and doesn't look like MarkK's picture). I thought I'd use the space for my CB radio, when I get around to installing it (they don't have Alan Jackson's Greatest Hits on 8-track...can you believe that?!) I'll get pictures on my site, just as soon as I chew through this chain attached to my desk.
