    Strider380 Can I have a zip tie?

    I got a 73 parts jeep with dana 44 and 30, 11 inch drums. I'm gonna throw them on my m38a1. the problem is I don't want to leave that jeep incapacitated. There shouldn't be a problem throwing the 9 inch brakes from my m38a1 on my 73 cj5 parts jeep, just so i can roll it around if i had too?

    Can't imagine you'd have a problem there.

    jpflat2a what's that noise?

    reassemble the 73 without the backing plates etc;
    just leave the 9" brake stuff off.
    not needed for what you describe

    If it runs, you can drive it in low range at a slow walking pace. To stop, shut off the engine.

    Note I'd only trust this for a few hyndred feet at most, inside your level yard.

    I never thought of either of those ideas. it dosn't have a tranny in it or a cooling system, but I could put in my tranny with a snapped tooth just for around the yard. I don't care if it self destructs, its junk.

    so I could just put the spindles and bearings on and leave the backplate, brakes and drums off? are the spindles the same on both jeeps. thanks for the ideas. I like the sound of this.:):):)

    the spindles might be the same
    the OD of the wheel bearings will be different
    the rear brake backing plates won't bolt up to the 73
