    Hey guys,

I'm on the home stretch of my EFI install and have a problem. Well, the problem is it won't start:mad: I have fuel up to the throttle body, fuel going back to the tank, and power to the injectors with the key on. From what I can see, I don't think I'm getting fuel into the injector. They feel dry to the touch and I'm not sure if I should be able to see fuel being sprayed, but I'm not. The throttle body looks dry. Is this the sign of bad injectors??? Any way to clean them out or do I need new ones??? I have checked all of my wiring way more than enough times and everything is plugged in. I have not been able to check power to the injector with the key on, not enough hands.

Please help, I'm so close to the end.

You could rig up a noid light with a 194 automotive lamp to check injector pulse....

Patrick, I'm not sure I know what you are talking about.

I went back out there and it will run with me spraying fuel down into the throttle body for a short time then it shuts down.

    Does that mean bad injectors??

Should the probes where you plug the injectors in be perpendicular to the jeep or the other. I pulled the injectors out and there seems to be only a small hole in the side of the injector that would let fuel in. Should that be facing where the fuel comes into the throttle body??? I need to find some pictures of how they are supposed to face.

Still, any help is greatly appreciated,

Make sure the computer is getting a tach signal if it is not the injectors will not fire.
Cycle the power and see if the injectors will fire as you cycke the key.
And you can see the injectors squirt injectors I believe rarely just stop working it sounds as though something else is going on.
It does not matter what direction the face the fuel surrouds them .

This kit doesn't have the wire for the tach signal.

This is an AFI kit without the distributor.

Hmmm strange as far I know all efi system need some sort of tach signal inorder to know when and how to fire the injectors but I am not farmiliar with you particular setup.I would double check and make sure you are not missing a wire some wheres that goes to the negative side of the coil for a tach signal.
It amy not have a distributer the system may not run spark but it still I believe needs a tach signal of some sort.

an educated guess would seem to say the injectors do not all go bad at once.
what triggers the injectors and their sequence ?
do you have a bad ground ?

Green71 was right. I looked back through numerous e mails I got from the seller and AFI. One wire that wasn't being used I plugged into the tach slot on my HEI and "we have fire"!!!!! It fired right up and hummed awesome. When pulling the one header out for a O2 bung, I had to swing the power steering pump out of the way. Well, that was squealing something fierce and the alternator was as well so I had some tinkering to do. I jacked up the Jeep and turn it lock to lock a bunch of times, I think it must have uncovered the pick up or something because doing that fixed it. I then readjusted the alternator belt, had to adjust when I put the Mojave in, long story. But those two things fixed the squealing.

I then jumped in and went for a ride. Holy Crap does this thing move!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It doesn't return to idle as fast as the carb did, but makes for more seamless shifts on the road.

I give this project two big thumbs up now:):):):) The wiring was pretty straight forward and the actual install was OK. The hardest part for me was getting the header out and getting it back in with the 2 barrel water heated intake. Fuel pump was fairly easy after I decided to mount it on the inside of the frame rail where it's boxed for the springs. Might have to fab up a cover for it before it gets too nasty out. I have a little leak there too. Not sure what the best thing to use as sealer there would be???

I still have to mount the computer and the relays, but the project is pretty much complete.

Best $600 I have spent on the Jeep.

Wow, 300 miles at 70. That would be a long day in my Jeep:)

I walked out and started it a little while ago, wierd not having to pump the gas.
