I know this might be a dumb question but.....what is the correct fluid for a hydraulic clutch? The PO installed a hydraulic clutch whuch is no biggie but I was wondering what should be in it? Thanks for any help.

That is what I thought but I was just checking before I topped it off. Thank you for the information.

Yup, brake fluid. What about DOT4, the purple stuff that doesn't attract moisture? Anyone tried it?

Uhh, guys, it depends on what the hydraulics came from. I'll agree most use standard brake fluid, usually dot 3, but there are some out there that require girling fluid and if you put dot 3 in it swells the rubber. Some later model Jeeps used girling fluid.... Was a real problem for a few years as people were putting in dot 3 and it was destroying the clutch master cylinder and internal slave cylinder. Very expensive fix as the trans had to be dropped to repair. Usually it will be marked on the master cylinder cap what's required. Nickmil

I'm using a Wilwood master and slave, they recommend Dot 3.
