I picked a Ramsey PT1-s pto as I'd like to not have to cut a hole in my jeep to run a pto behind a overdrive. This unit doesn't have a lever coming out the top, it has a shaft out the side to engage the unit. Does anyone know if this PTO will work in a jeep or is the drop angle wrong? I can't find anything about the model number anywhere. What was it originally for, is it uncommon? Input would be great.:)

I think that they were used in the FC's and were cable actuated. I don't have access to any of my manuals but the Ramsey ptos could be adjusted for angle unlike the Koenigs.

Pic would help. I have a P11, single lever w/ off set front and rear shafts and a DP1-s which has shaft out the side like your describing with two seperate tabs, and is a true duel operating pto with rear centered shaft and offset front shaft. You can take the cable operated cover off and interchange it with levers on the Ramseys.

PT1-J - Jeep (CJ)
PT1-T - Jeep (truck/wagon)
PT1-F - Jeep (FC)
PT1-S - Scout

Not sure if the angle is correct but correct routing of shaft with needed joints and pillow block should be able to make it work for you.

Here is a pic of the pto. Is this what you were thinking it was?

That looks like my p11 with the different cable shifter on it. Like Kodiak said, you can unbolt the back half and shift the angle if the drop is wrong. Looks like it should work well. :) But I like as many levers as possable in my jeep!R)

I know this is an old thread but I just ran across it and thought I would put in my .02... The PT1-s is the exact same PTO as the standard shift lever jeep PTO's but they were standard option for International Scouts. Scouts came stock with a Borg Warner T90-a spicer 18 combination that is the exact same as the ones installed in Jeeps of the same vintage so the PT1-S will bolt right up to the jeep and work wonderfully. I installed one in my 69 and ran the activation cable to the dash panel.[IMG][/IMG]
