I am trying to fit my large hole D18 to my T90 but can't seam to figure out how the t86 bearing retainer goes on. Isn't it suppose to center the tcase like the small hole case does? Anyone have a picture with a T90 setup like this

    Thanks

I figured out how the retainer mounts. But isn't it suppose to fit inside the case? Or is it going to be a press type fit with the transfercase bolts pulling it down? Mine is to large to hand fit into the case. I even tried it on an old D20 case I have and it didn't fit it. I would really rather not bust my case trying it.

The bearing retainer does center the bull gear in the transfer case. Although it is a machined fit, the retainer has always just slide in under hand pressure for me, even on several different vehicles. I wouldn't force it on with the bolts....that sounds like a good way to mess something up. Are you trying to mate the tranny and t-case together? If so, maybe it is the bull gear not meshing correctly with the gear in the t-case? Keep in mind that there are different gear counts on the bull gear and you may be trying to mate two incompatible gears together. Just a thought. Good luck. P.S. I call it the bull gear, but that is likely not correct. What ever it is called, I am referring to the main gear off the rear of the tranny.

I don't have the retainer mounted yet. I was just doing a test fit to make sure I had it right. It kind of fits but will not seat in the transfercase. Maybe the retainer I have is wrong or something.

Well I figured out what the problem is. I guess I have a T90 retainer not a T86. Pulled the bull gear and retainer off the T90 and the retainer is the same.

    Keith,
I have a new T86 bearing retaining that I don't need. Send me a PM if you need it.

    Thanks Mike..
I found one. Got it all together just waiting on gaskets to finish bolting it up.
