rear bumper offset?

    I'm going to order materials tomorrow for a rear bumper/tire carrier. For those of you that have installed a custom or purchased unit...how much offset from the rear cross member?
    I plan to use recovery straps thru the bumper to the frame to support the unit, was thinking 3/4" offset.......sound right?

    I went with an inch but 3/4 should be fine.
