How do I remove the steering gear box on a '61 CJ6 with F-134 motor?
I can see three or four bolts that attach it to the frame.
Does the sector shaft nut just unscrew?

I tried to get it off this weekend but I couldn't get the sector nut loose. So I thought I would ask instead of breaking something.

    Thanks,

There should be 4 bolts with nuts attaching the box to the frame. 2 of the bolts also hold the master cylinder heat shield if the heat shield is still there. The sector shaft does not have to come out to remove the box. The entire assembly (box, pitman arm and steering column) should be removed as a single unit.
