Just about any, if you are willing to spend the money. A Jeep Dana 300 is probably your best option, again if you can afford it.

If you're looking for a junkyard solution, I don't know of any that will be short and narrow enough for a CJ-5.

If you want a junkyard solution, a T-18 will be easier.

The Novak SM465/Dana 20 is shorter than the SM465/Dana 300 by 2.1 inches!

The 20 would be cheaper, but a 300 has a better low range. I was thinking if you were going to spend the money on an adapter, it might be worth it to get the lower gears.

One other thing I was readin' was ther is a divorced style np T-CASE that fits this 2wd sm465, supposed to bolt up at the yoke, and thats all I got from it.

Maybe a NP205? With a divorced transfer case, the combination will be too long for a CJ-5. You'd need a driveshaft between the trans and TC. Plus the truck TCs (like to 205) are probably too wide to go between the CJ frame rails.

Yep, Tim is right. The overall length of the transmission/transfer case is something you will have to live with. I am a big fan of Dana 300s. I think the only downside is that they don't flat tow as well as a Dana 20 or 18. You can install sliders with paddles in a Dana 300 that act as oil slingers. With that mod, the 300 will flat tow with out starving the output bearing for oil. I do have a set of slidders with paddles if you decide to go with a 300 and flat towing is an issue.
With gear swap options available for the Dana 20, you can change the low range from 2.03 to 2.46 or 3.15. The Dana 300 is 2.62 and can be changed to 4.00. Gear swaps are not cheap. The least costly route with a Dana 20 is to find the Dana 18 large hole and a early Bronco Dana 20 in a junkyard a get the right gears out of them. I think to buy all 5 gears for the 2.46 swap from suppliers would cost around $475. The 3.15 kits cost a few hundred dollars more. IIRC, the 4.00 kit for the Dana 300 can be found for less than $600. So if cost is a factor, the 300 is the way to go. If length is a factor, the Dana 20 conversion is shorter.

All things being equal the lower ratio of the 300 is an advantage over the 20, but with the SM465 granny coupled through the 20 do you need to go any lower? And I don't think the Novak kit minds one bit whether you use a 2wd or 4wd SM465. Same kit, I think. Once you pull off the rear output housing both the 4wd and 2wd trannys look the same, or at least that's my understanding.

Unless you're really hot for the SM465 I recommend the T18. My dad is putting a 350 and SM465 into his 74 CJ5 and it's not as trivial as ol'e Novak would lead you to believe. Count on fabbing a new cross-member, or at least hacking the snot out of yours. You'll also need to cut open your floor pan to make some room. And your transfer case shift mechanism doesn't clear the tranny case so you'll have to fab up a dogleg on the mounting pipe to move the shift mechanism to the right, along with figuring out a way to make all the links on the shift rods work with the lever outboarded.

Possibly you could look at using a suzuki samurai Tcase. it is divorce style and quite small. Wheel bas of a samurai is very similar.
