I agree. I use the D-Rings on the lugs normally and take them off to put on the tow bar. Clean bumper look. Strong.

Hmm, I hafta admit, I'm trying to visualize something but I'm not able to.

To me all I'm looking at is the same on both sides and that won't work. I need something like a coupler that Lynn mentioned or I need to get those lugs off there so I can mount the brackets on the bumper.

Sorry guys, I can take an engine apart and rebuild it or build a website but when it comes to fabbing stuff up I'm a complete dummy. Not having a welder handy doesn't help matters much either.

Panzer's setup looks ideal (same tow bar even?) but not so easy for me to do. No metal, no welder, no skillz.

Please post a picture of your towbar up by the hitch. Is the angle adjustable or fixed?

Just thinking out load, haw about another tab either on the inside or outside the
existing one. As far apart as your tow bar. Then you could put a pin through
both and through the tow bar. Similar to the way mine is. Just one side is heavy
duty the other wouldn't have to be..

Sparky, your tow bar looks the same as the one I have. I believe it's adjustable Joel.

That's fixed if you mean on the "Y-axis" adjustable? If you mean the distance between the mounting points refer to post #1. :D

John, that might work, if I can find the materials, I can likely find a welder and weldor. Problem then becomes the size discrepancy between what the tow bar accepts for a pin and what the clevis pin is unless there's some sorta sleeve or something to slide in the existing mounting point.

:D this isnt to bad if that is tubing not channel. Ok with out a welder but you do need a drill ,bandsaw or chopsaw but a hacksaw will and some 1/8thx2 flat bar

Ok Take the vertical bolt out remove the end.
spread the tow bar where the outter edge is inline with the outer edge of the lug. get a figure your angle off the tow bar to make it strait with the lug. Take a 5 to 6 inch long piece of the flat bar bend it to make the angle ,do the same to the inside then drill and bolt it to the tow bar with two 3/8" bolts . then you can mark and drill your hole for the pin .

Ummmm Ill draw it out , a pic is worth more then a thousand words in my writing R)

    geez 3 post since I started typing R) R) R)

I had to do that also. The bolt diameter for the shackle was almost 3/4". The
bolt for the tow bracket was either 1/2" or 7/16". So I cut a thin wall piece of
pipe the thickness of the wall of the shackle bracket. I pop in the new sleeve
put a washer on each side of the wall of the shackle bracket and bolt it. The washers
keep the sleeves in place and the bolt for the tow bracket rotates as if the
hole was drilled for it. Clear as mud??

I can get you a couple of pics if you need.

Hmm, this is sounding better. I think this would work!

Pics that show what you described a bit better would be useful. 8)

Now when you say "pipe" do you mean PVC or copper? R) R) R) J/K

Ok, I see what you did. Thanks John.

I just double checked. The hole of the brackets that come with the tow-bar line up with the holes in the existing lugs.

    Got me thinking.
