    Hello From france,
I want to remove the front drums of a Jeep MB to have a look
    at the brakes.
    I take out the wheel.
Could somebody show me a draw of the mounting of the drum?
    Thanks
    Bruno

If it is like my gpw,I have found the easy way to do it is remove the rim, then the drive flange, then the nuts that hold the hub and pull the whole thing off .Would be a good time to clean or replace the wheel bearings and regrease them.

I have no way to post a picture maybe somone here can.

Bruno, are you sure that's right for an MB?

There's a dust cap on the end of the hub, and if this drawing is right, there should be a nut under it. Normally I would not expect to see a nut there, but the MB may be different.

On the civilian Jeeps, there is only a snap ring under the dust cap. The nut that holds the hub to the axle is under the flanges. The flange is what you see held by screws. Note that "nut" is the threaded female part, and "screw" or "stud" is the male part.

On a civilian Jeep, if you remove the snap ring, remove the flange, and remove the nut holding the hub to the spindle, the hub, bearings and drum will slide off. You may need to adjust the brakes away from the drum for the hub and drum to come off. This is much easier than trying to separate the hub from the drum.
