I want the best way to remove the interlock pin in a dana 20. I'm going to a twin-stick and want to shift to 2 low in tight turns.
    Thanks,

I am a big fan of the "Twin Stik20 upgrade. Don Custer came up with this system and after my installation, well I can't say enough about my Twin Stick system!
and is the ONLY true twin stick system that utilizes the front diff by itself correctly. Please take a few minutes and google this site. DO NOT BYPASS any interlocks on your Dana 20... you could be sorry someday in a back woods mess if u do.... also some have had issues with it jumping outta gear... others have been fine.
PLEASE take a look and read Don's web site and his information on the Dana 20! Regards from a Four Wheeler with FORTY ONE years of experience and a retired Professional Mechanical Engineer and Professional Electrical Engineer. Sincerely, MGySgt. Robert Anders

If all you want is 2-low, then you don't have to do anything. You should be able to feel the detent for 2-low just above (foward) of 4-low. It is not marked on the shift knob, but you do pass through it on the way to 4-low. Your rear wheels will be fully engaged in low range, and your front wheels will be fully disengaged. This applies if you have the straight pattern transfer case shifter {4H-2H-N--(2L)--4L}. 2-Low won't be engaged any differently than if you had a twin stick.

    But front digs are cool!

The only reason to pull the interlock is if you want to use the front axle only. You have to disasemble the t-case to do it. No other way around it. The interlock is between the shift rails in the front output housing. I did this when I rebuilt mine. The ability to use the front axle only has come in handy a couple of times.
