    Strider380 Can I have a zip tie?

My jeep just started to hesitate when accelerating from a stop. It bucks 3 or 4 times usually at the beginning of 1st and 2nd gear. Once your cruising it seems to be fine. Immediatly I changed the fuel filter and air filter hoping I wasn't going to have to go into the carb. Didn't fix it so I checked the plugs and they all looked exactly how they were suppose to. Everything looked fine under the distributor cap, so I opened up the carb to blow everything clean. Carb was rebuilt 6 months ago and was suprisingly clean still. Needless to say, that didn't fix it either. Any ideas? It starts and idles fine.

Do you all use the reformulated gas back there, and if you do, when did they switch to summer blend? Could be tied in with that, not sure how to remedy it if that is your problem, but might give you a direction to look...
    Good luck.

    Strider380 Can I have a zip tie?

In my opinion, this sounds gas related and not spark related. anyone agree? If its electrical, it could only be the condensor, or coil, maybe the distribtor cap. I find this unlikley though. On the other hand, I just remebered a river crossing that I believe happened before the problem started. There is a ton of sand on top of my rear bumper, so I could see the gas tank being under and leaking through the filler hose. Since then, I ran it down to a quarter tank and filled it twice. I figured I would have enough good gas in there by now. I'm going to run it dry then put in some dry gas. I hope that works.

Is it bad to put methanol in the old 258 engine to absorb the water?

Water in your gas will cause bucking but when you checked your carb it would have water in the bottom of the float bowl. Condenser would be a good guess also. Carb could be leaning out under acceleration, clogged off idle port, weak accelerator pump. All good areas to check.
