How much should I expect to pay to have the tranmission and transfer case rebuilt. I am also assuming that I should replace the clutch while everything is apart. Transmission is a T-90 and transfer case is a dana 18.

If you want to drag it up to Albertville, near lake Guntersville, you can meet me, firefighter mike and maybe Coby will show up to. I'll do it alot cheaper than most shops. Never done a t90 but its alot simpler than a t14, sm420 or sm465 and they all turned out fine. I've rebuilt about 8-9 of the dana 18's now with no trouble.
Yes you probably should replace the clutch and resurface the flywheel while its all apart.

Such a deal! You should take it.

This is a bench job, right? If you do the R&R, it will be much less expensive. If you go to Herm's site, he would charge about $300 for each piece. http://www.hermtheoverdriveguy.com/id41.htm That's a good benchmark.

Have you given any thought to doing it yourself. I've never done it before but I plan on doing it since I hear how relatively painless it is.

I see a golden opportunity here for you to go meet with Mike and company. And you can even get your gear boxes rebuilt while you're at it!

It all depends on how long and when. I have to get my jeep up to Atlanta in the beginning of August. On August 9th I sign out of Ft. Rucker and will be moving to Ft. Wainwright(Alaska). Do you have a weekend free during the first week of August.

    You didn't list a motor.

I have a 1964 cj with a 225 V6. As other people on this forum have said, and I listened... : Take the time and money and rip off the flywheel and have it faced. I used an air impact gun when removing the flywheel, to minimize the stress on the rear engine oil seals. Tighten by hand + torque wrench.

Last week, I marched down the street to the nearest NAPA, they happily faced my flywheel for $30. Apparently, not all NAPA's have machine shops, and they shipped it off to Canby (coulda used Corvallis too) and back "free". They turned it around in like 3-4 business days too.

They also hooked me up with a clutch, new pressure plate, T.O. bearing, and pilot bearing for about ~$200. Shopping around probably could yield a better deal, but time is of the essence for me since I'm moving soon.

I have the weekend of July 27th-29th off. If you have the parts you could come up and have it rebuilt to take home that night on say friday or saturday night. Just make sure its as clean as you can get, this takes longer than anything.

Rebuild it yourself, it is alot of fun. I just rebuilt my T90 and all I had was a box of parts, a universal manual, and Rick's rebuild guide and it was easy, did not do the t-case. If you have some guys willing to help go for it.
