Go the rocker guards/side steps pretty much done (see fabrication thread) and picked up a 225 the other morning so I have to get that on a stand and start tearing it down. Obligatory pics following:

Started tearing down my 225, it appears to be in good shape so far, all stock and minimal cylinder wear, gotta finish stripping it and see if it needs to be bored out or anything.

Also had a change of plans and scrapped the TH400/D20 idea, its just too long with the height I'm at. So I was going to go for a SM420 or SM465 mated to the D20 but then I found a good Dana 300 in the U pull it yard so I brought that home and now I'm going to run that behind a SM420 or SM465 depending on which I find first for cheap. I also scored a nice set of Warn hubs and a complete steering column and shaft at the yard, best part was everything was $80 total.

Yep, it was a good trip even though I didn't find my tranny. I got the 300 all cleaned up and its in really good shape so I'm happy. Hopefully later today I can make up the rest of my steering shaft and have all that hooked up.

Sorry ;) havent gotten too much done, got the motor torn down, gotta order up a rebuild kit and am hopefully picking up a freebie SM465 in the next few days. Also made the steering intermediate shaft up using all stock jeep parts. I used a DJ column because the length is great for the 2A and it has a real u joint that is rebuildable. Also the u joint is the same size as a Commando one so with a little mixing I have a DJ yoke on the side going to the DJ column and a Commando yoke on the other side to match up to the larger shaft and splines on the Commando intermediate shaft. I then melted out the plastic pins in the intermediate shaft so I could collapse it enough to fit the shorter length between the DJ column and the CJ power steering box in the flatty. It all worked out pretty well and should be replaceable easy enough if I need to. I hope this makes sense but will try to get some pics of it later. Also got a body bushing kit for a 55-75 CJ5 and started mounting the body up. I had to make new mounts on the rear bumper and am going to have to repair some hat channel but it should work out good.

Oh yeah I also pulled all the original shrouding and stuff off the back of the stock grille so I can push tha radiator and engine up as far as possible. That should give me alot more room for the rear driveshaft too.

Thanks heres some pics of the steering shaft all assembled and the column mounts, also I had two 33" tires lying around so I threw them on one side just to check how they would fit.

Allright heres the newest update, I decided to use a SBC instead of the V6 so I picked that up, its supposedly ready to drop in and go.
I also got a set of YJ pedals as well as the booster and master cylinders so I started fitting them up, I'm not sure if the booster will clear with the engine in so I may end up going hydroboost or just manual brakes
    [IMG]
I'm going to reinforce the firewall a bit with some plate too once everything is set up. I had to modify the pedals a little to fit in and have enough swing but they should work out okay
    [IMG]
and I picked up this 19x22 aluminum radiator when I got the engine, its brand new and fits behind the grille perfect, I just have to make up some mounts for it

Thats pretty much it for now, I'm still waiting to get my tranny and then I can position the drivetrain and set up the motor mounts, do the firewall trimming, make a new crossmember, etc... but so far I think its coming along okay.

Did you run a brace off the dash to the pedal mount or just bolt them to the firewall?

Thanks man, progress has been kinda slow recently, new job :( but I did pick up a pair of old low back seats so I have to make up some mounting brackets and notch the wheelhouses for them. I also started working on the engine mounts, planning in cardboard so once I pick up some steel I can start making them up. Hopefully I'll get some stuff done this weekend and some pics.

The pedal assembly from the YJ comes with a big thick bracket that I slipped under the 2A dash. I also added a plate to the 2A firewall to help stiffen it up and I will probably end up tying the YJ bracket into the 2A dash with some strap steel. As it is now it seems pretty solid but I'll see how it is with some real pressure on it and modify as needed. I'll try to get some finished pics of it this weekend.

That sounds good, thanks.. Been looking at doing swinging pedals on my 2a, if I get to keep it, but worried about firewall flex.

Sorry no pics yet, had to work all weekend again, but I did manage to get started on one side for the wheelhouse notch. I cut out a pretty big chunk as I want to push the seat as far back as I can. Need to weld in the patch panels and it should be good to go.
