Brought home my new (to me) '69 cj5 last night. Somebody has cut the firewall to fit a v8 (buick I think).

Does anybody know if the '76 and later firewall patch panels are the same (or close) as the '55-'71?

I'm not looking to restore it, but I want to put a f-134 back into it and fix the hatchet job.

    Thanks,
    Lee

Doubtful since the AMC Jeeps used entirely different engines and the tubs were changed a good bit in 1976.

    Someone here may know though.

On second thought, you might be able to make it work. I really don't know.

    That's what I'm thinking.....maybe I can make it work.
But for $200, I don't want to take the chance on an unknown.
I might just patch it by hand, piece by piece, but I was hoping for an easy, accurate fix.

Dows anybody know if there is a patch for the '55-'71?

Seems like you could find a usable original cowl...since they don't seem to rust...;)

I junked a decent one a couple years back myself...

    I am very interrested!
Take your time though, I'll buy when you're ready, but I won't be ready for fabrication until this winter.

Re the '76 panels, the floors are entirely different from '76 on. The patchwork of removable panels from the earlier Jeeps is gone.

The CJ was entirely redesigned for the 1976 model year - very little other than the outer body shell and some drivetrain components were carried over.
