Did the 68 come with an alternator?
As I was replaceing the rubber fuel line from the pump to the metal hose a stream of gas came from under the jeep
It looks like the hose is rotted away where it goes through the frame
Can I replace the hose section with a rubber gas line?

yes they came with an alternator, and it would be better to use metal line and use rubber just for short sections where you need the flex.

the 5th shock is a factory attempt to dampen engine vibration.

Im thinking I have to replace half the length of the fuel line
Who ever put in the new wireing harness deceided to zip tie it to the fuel and brake lines
Dosent this sound like a recipe for danger??
Leaking gas and a broken hot wire dosent mix to well

My 67 has a motorola alternator with remote fender mounted voltage regulator. When I replaced my fuel lines I used black vinyl tubing with short sections of rubber fuel hose on each end, it is fuel proof and easy to route. I got it at the Caterpillar dealership.
Where is the other end of the shock mounted?

The top is mounted to a bar comming off the engine block behind the passenger side valve cover
the bottom is mounted just behind back of the front leaf spring connection to the frame
Looks like I have alot bigger spring stack compared to the 59CJ
    the 59 has 7 I think and the 68 has 13?
    Its noticeabley a stronger spring

The vinyl line sounds ok, but I'd for sure keep it away from the exhaust. Don't use long lengths of rubber line - that's a recipe for a fire. The original fuel lines are steel, except for short sections of rubber at the junctions. The steel line is the same stuff as steel brake lines, 1/4" diameter for 134s and 5/16" for everything else IIRC. Brake lines are cheap and available everywhere - cut and bend to shape.

There was both standard and heavy-duty (optional) springs and shocks available from the factory. The AMC VINs will indicate the GVWR, and that's determined by the suspension option.

I put in new metal gas lines yesterday after work
Now the driveway dosent stink of gas anymore
Im sure theres a big transmission problem
when the front is not engaged the CJ will roll no matter if its in nurtral or a gear
If this V6 dosent start can I take the F134 and 3 stick trans from the 59 and put it in the 68?
Or if the engins good and the trans isnt can I mate up the 59 trans to the 68 motor?
As of now I am not getting a spark, still have a few more tests to run

    Thanks

    slow down
take your time and figure out what is wrong
check the trans, transfer case, and differentials for proper operation and no broken gears; drain the lubricant, check for debris.
engine swaps aren't a piece of cake.....

if it rolls whenever the front axle is not engaged, most likely bad spider gears in the rear axle or other busted stuff back there.

just take the time to assess it all. it is pretty simple stuff. get a service manual or Moses Ludel book, it will help immensely.
