Leaf springs

Well seeing that I have been bouncing around on coils for the last 10 years I have a few questions about leaf springs. I know I am putting the cart before the horse a little, because I have a few other things to take care of with my plan for this Jeep before suspension, but like always I am thinking of things. I only want a 2-2.5 inch lift, something about COG and off camber trails, my backside grabs hold in off camber situations. So my first choice will be a full spring lift, but after I go to lookingat the springs all cleaned up, they seem to be in pretty good shape. So I started looking at an add-a-leaf kit that is about half the price of the full springs and I have even considered maybe just some lift shackles(1 to 1 1/2") and a 1" body lift. So what are your thoughts or experiences. Thanks Bob

opinions vary on this, but I am using the hockey puck body lift and some type of spring 1" lift to accomodate my tires. Hockey pucks will lift the body about 1" or so and are cheap, around $.99 each at hockeymonkey.com. Only downside to a body lift on an ECJ5 is, if you still use through the floor pedals, you will most likely have to enlongate the pedal holes to accomodate the change in angle.

some folks run lift shackles and others don't: they do seem to affect your camber and will make the spring flatter.
