225 HEI swap...getting confused

    I'm in the process of swapping HEI into my 225. I got a used OF dist off eBay and read the tech articles by Howell and Bucholz in the Tech Library here. I noticed bewtween the two tech articles, one states the size of the pick ups in the dist cap: 1 = short, 6 = long, 5 = medium, 4 = medium, 3 = long, 2 = short. The other article is one plug hole off: 1 = long, 6 = short, 5 = short, 4 = long, 3 = medium, 2 = medium.

    I think I may be making more out of this then need be. Should I be more concerned about the location of the magnectic pick ups under the rotor?

    1 is short - degrees for the odd vs even is the critical thing on the HEI. You can not mix the odd and even posts.
