Just completed installing all new brake hoses, wheel cylinders and shoes on all four wheels. I now know why the brakes were weak....The fronts were doing 95% of the stopping with the left rear offering NO braking. The left rear was soaked/caked up from a severe wheel cylinder leak. May have to replace one drum - groved. Going to take them to NAPA to get turned tomarrow.

Anyone know how much a 9" drum will cost?

Not sure it's a good idea to spend a lot of money on 9" brakes ... Turners has your drum http://www.thejeep.com/onlinecatalog/p74.htm likely other Jeep specialists too.

Someone here will probably give you a good used 9" drum for shipping costs.

Most folks change the whole setup out for 11" drums or disks.

I just recently bought four new 11" drums online from PartsAmerica. I was actually Googling for Checker Auto Parts, and it took me to P/A. I guess P/A is the online dist. for Checker, Advance, Schucks, and a few others.

Anyway, my new Raybestos drums were $28.99 ea., plus shipping. I ordered a bunch of other parts too...quick, reasonable and painless; had 'em in a couple of days. Check it out, maybe they have 9" parts too. You've gone this far with the overhaul of the 9", might as well finish it. You can always convert to 11" or discs later on. This way, you'll be able to drive it and collect the better brake parts as can find/afford them. JMHO.

Oh, the same drums at NAPA were in the $75-$80 range!

I have some 9" drums if you need one. Only cost is the shipping, my wife will be glad to see one less Jeep part around.R)

Do you happen to have Hub, 9" drum and backing plate for Dana 44?

I just replaced my rear 10" brakes and found Rockauto.com to be cheapest. Not sure how they are on 9 " though.
